A look back in time

A week ago my Brent and I took the boys to the "property" to fish and ride the motor bikes. Spencer took his metal detector to find some treasures. As he was looking for money and gold he came across this lid. What a find Spencer. I love this picture.

As he was continuing his hunt he found this key hole.

Looking through this, is as if we are looking back into the past.

I wish the walls could tell the story of this home. Why they built the house next to the Weber River and what did they do while they lived here. Who are they you ask, I don't know but I wish I did. Brent's Grandpa bought the house from them many, many years ago.

Here is one reason they probably built on this spot, the view out the window. It is amazing.

Grandpa liked to do his own repairs so he had his trusty, rusty cement mixer for all the odd jobs he promised Grandma he'd get done.

This is the infamous house. Just think of how lovely it once was.

Ah, I love the past. Which brings me to the next set of pictures.

I sometimes wish I could put these guys back in the past to when they were younger. Now look at how they have matured.

Aren't they just too cute!

Oh and by the way, we had no luck fishing so we just had fun watching these guys have fun.

One fun night out !!

It's that time of year when our dear friend Noelle comes to town. She doesn't live in Utah, so for those of us who do it is a great time to have a ton of laughs and alot of catching up when we have our girls night out.

We pick a great little resturant and sit for hours and hours just having the best time. No kids, husbands or pets to distract us.

We sat at Cafe Rio for almost 3 1/2 hours. We talked about everything and nothing but that's what is so great about our friendship.

I love to hear about all their kids and what each one is doing. It's great to share stories of fun and not so fun stages of the kids. And between the 4 of us we have 13 kids, ranging in age from almost 3 to 16 1/2.

We have great hubby stories too, but that could take a whole other blog. One thing that's unusual is that all our husbands are friends too.

Well we topped the night off with hugs and promises of keeping in better touch with each other and we said Goodnight.

It's Done, Finally

Yea, the boys finally finished with their Eagle paper work and are now officially EAGLE SCOUTS. What a terrific accomplishment. I am very proud of them. They have worked hard to earn this.




They can relax and enjoy scouts now. They have taught me a lot those two. We are very blessed to have two great young men. Kudos Boys.

Are you prepared?

Since Feb. 2 I have had this overwhelming feeling to make sure my 72 hour kits were finished and all in one place. A place with easy access in case of an emergency. Also to have more food storage and all our propane tanks filled for our trailer. Brent and I both felt it was necessary to get this done and pronto.

So, when we heard about the earthquake in Nevada we kinda breathed a sigh of oh, that's why we had such an urgent feeling. I know we were prompted. Why else would we spend 550.00 on food storage all at once. It was fun to go shopping for all that great stuff. Now it had to be put away. That's the worst part of shopping. But I have Brent.

Brent has a great way of organizing our pantry downstairs and loves to take one Saturday a year to reorganize it and make it flow better. Now it is all in order and we now know we have two cases of tooth paste instead of just one.

We are thankful for inspired leaders who have told us for many years to "BE PREPARED!" Not only physically but Spiritually as well. That one will be an on going process. But one we are working on daily. We are getting there, are you?

This Beauty We Call Home

I was up early this morning and I could see out my kitchen window that the sun was coming up. I ran to get my camera. I could tell that this was going to be one of those picture mornings.

I love taking pictures of the sky in the morning and evening. I don't know really why, except that I have had some great feel good moments with the scenes that I have seen.

When I see something I think is worth sharing I tell the boys to look and now they do that for me. I have them sharing what they think is beautiful nature too.

I will share some of my favorite pictures with you.

It's Done, Finally Done

Spencer and Connor have completed their EAGLE projects and I am so relieved. This has been the longest 12 months ever. It started out in January 07 when I came to my oldest and said, "Hey it's time to start thinking of a project for your Eagle project. "

"Yeah, I know. Maybe I could do something at the school. Or for the homeless."

"Okay, let me know what you decide."

February, "Hey Connor, time to think of a project for your Eagle."

"I don't know what to do."

"Let me give you some Ideas."

"NO, mom I don't want to do any of those they are boring."

"Spencer have you thought of anything?"

"Yeah, maybe something at the animal shelter."

March, "Guys you need to decide what you are going to do!!"

April, "Come on, can you figure out what you would like to do??"

May, "I have a terrific idea, your Uncle in Iraq said the troops and the Iraqi children are in desparate need of certain items you could collect these and send them over."

"That is a great idea. What do we need to do to get started?"

After about a month of getting things cleared and paper worked finished and red tape gone through they finally were able to get the "BALL ROLLING!"

They went to Grammy's work and set out boxes to have people donate and donate they did. It was wonderful to see how generous they were.

Next we went to our ward members. They were awesome, we had our entire front room filled with donations from, clothes, and school supplies, to food and hygiene items. All types of books, games, footballs, stationary and stamps.


It was very heart warming to see how giving everyone was.

and label everything that was

donated!!

They have felt a tremendous love for these people as they worked on this project. And they know it will bless the lives of many.

In November the boys recieved a letter from Col. Darel Maxfield. He thanked the boys for their support and generosity and what a blessing the clothes and books and soccer balls, were for this community of children. He said they are very needy over there and this was huge for them.

I know it was huge for my boys. They have grown into wonderful young men. This is just one thing that has helped them learn about service for others. They amaze me every day and I only hope to continue to learn from them.

They would also like to thank everyone who donated and helped make this project a success.
